Workshops:

Hello and welcome! I’m Luci - neuroscientist, mother, and mindfulness coach.

I specialise in a personalised approach, where I adapt a broad range of mindfulness and meditation practices (from the science to the woo) to complement and support the unique and changing needs and goals of our modern lifestyles. I have particular experience in the integration of mindfulness practices into parenthood, mindfulness for children and families, mindfulness in the workplace, and working with carers and patients living with dementia.

On a personal level, daily practice supports my gentle and mindful parenting in an often overwhelming and stressful world. I have been guiding my son in age-appropriate mindfulness since he was a baby, and now, at age 6, he is loving and compassionate, can communicate his thoughts and feelings eloquently, and can regulate his emotions. My practice has also supported me in processing trauma, handling stress, and relieving chronic pain, whilst continuing to show up for my loved ones, my community, and myself (!) as the best and most authentic me.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness can be described as the non-judgemental attention to present-moment experiences i.e., actively observing your moment-to-moment thoughts and feelings without judgement. The core components of mindful meditation practice are attention control, emotion regulation, and self-awareness. This can progress to exploration of the unconscious and enlightenment in advanced meditators.

How will Mindfulness help us?

The Neuroscience (Cognitive/Behavioural): Practicing mindfulness and mindful meditation regularly allows us to train the areas of our brain which connect our “emotional” limbic system and our “cognitive” prefrontal cortex. Strengthening these connections increases our capacity to link these two systems effectively and with more control, leading to increased happiness, reduced stress, better emotional regulation, considered behavioural responses rather than habitual reactions, and stronger bonding and emotional attachment. Mindfulness also improves our concentration, focus, memory, attention, and awareness. More advanced meditators can even explore different levels of consciousness!

The Holistic (Spiritual/Traditional): Mindfulness can relieve human suffering and increase compassion and loving-kindness. By helping us see clearly, and understand ourselves and others better, we can live a more fulfilling and joyful life. Mindfulness practice can free us from mental constructs, learn to see the world as it really is, and allow us to experience the delight of touching life deeply and authentically, giving us a way through suffering to joy. With advanced practice, we can travel the “Royal Road to the Unconscious” and attain the peace of enlightenment, “Nirvana”.

My background and intentions

I have a PhD in Neuroscience from University College London and 5 years in-depth study and practice of mindfulness and meditation; including a 1-year international group mindfulness course and the BAMBA registered Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programme, as well as my own personal exploration and research. Since my son was born in 2019, I have adapted formal techniques for incorporation into modern day motherhood and beyond. Alongside my mindfulness coaching I support patients living with dementia and their carers at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square; we lead on a patient-centred approach to accessing research and clinical trials for new treatments.

Mindfulness has been life-changing for me, and my research and exploration so far has been fascinating and truly eye-opening. I believe that if we were all living more mindfully a lot of the pain and suffering in our world would be abated. It is therefore my mission to share mindfulness with others and make it accessible for all.

My offerings at Moon

In our group sessions we will hold a calm and nourishing space to embrace the present moment; this could be in guided meditation, mindful movement, music, stories, or creative play, and will vary depending on the needs of the group - please see details of the different sessions I offer for adults (Mindful Me Time), mother and baby (Mindful Mama & Baby), and parent and child (Mindful Family Time). Along the way I will gently guide the implementation of realistic and achievable mindfulness and meditation practices into modern life. We will discuss focus topics and reflect on our experiences in a kind and safe environment so that we can connect with ourselves and each other. Let’s explore together and inspire one another!

Great job Brookfield Primary School for raising £6000, to update their library with books that truly reflect the diversity of our community!

A massive shout out to The Brookfield Community (formerly the PTA), particularly Anella Wickenden, as well as @breathewithkerry and @christelassb who donated all their income from their recent Breath Workshop.

Very happy that Moon Women's Health was also able to contribute in a small way to this achievement.

☀️ If you're around today, make your way down to the Brookfield Summer Fair - 12pm to 3pm. They'll be amazing food and fun for the kids ☀️

A big 30c welcome to Hannah Mayall. Hannah joined the Moon collective several months ago, bringing with her a rejuvenating Monday morning Vinyasa Yoga – a perfect way to start the week – find out more in our bio.

Over to Hannah 👇

Hi, I’m Hannah.

I’m a gardener, a creator of bobbly hedges (check out the house on the corner of Laurier and Dartmouth Park Avenue), a yoga practitioner and a yoga teacher.

I have lived and worked in the streets around Moon most of my life and feel committed to this community.

I have brought up 4 children, supporting and attending the local schools and during the years of work and parenthood I have always had some form of mind/body practice, which has supported me through the various phases of my life. In the last 20+ years this has been yoga.

Now I am older, wiser, calmer and even more rooted here than ever I can really see the value of a habitual practice especially when shared with members of my community.

I am very pleased to be here at Moon on Monday mornings offering a Vinyasa flow style yoga class with an emphasis on sun salutations and breath led movement.

I have also recently started a session on Wednesdays at the newly opened Highgate Newtown Community Centre - @hncp_2025

I hope to share some of the faith I have built in yoga practice in an effort to give back and invite more people to find a moment of peace, stability and introspection in their day which has got to be a good thing in our hectic world.

My classes are open to all abilities BUT I especially want to invite those who feel they are too old or too unfit or in some way unable to bend… yoga is an internal and individual practice and not all about creating great shapes

(I have recently qualified as a breath work teacher ((but more of that anon!))
