Planning for Menarche: A Workshop for Mothers and Daughters

Are you the mother of a daughter who is approaching or recently had their menarche (first menstruation) and would like to support her and celebrate her journey? Would you like to be in a safe space where it is possible to connect with your daughter and listen to her wishes and possible worries?

On Sunday 2nd March 2025 at 10am I will host at Moon NW5 a workshop for girls and their mothers on planning for menarche and menstrual cycle awareness.

Menarche is an important event in the life of a young person. Every individual and their family experiences it in a unique way, and it can stir up all sorts of feelings and emotions.

Most people think of menarche for its sexual and reproductive implications, but the beginning of the menstrual cycle is much more than that, and it affects how a young person thinks, feels and behaves.

Mothers, because of their lived experience, are usually the ones who talk to their daughters about menarche and menstruation. This topic and conversation can sometimes be a complex one to have. Sometimes mothers are unsure when it is best to talk about it, what to share and which words should be used. Sometimes it can be difficult for mothers to tune in with their daughters, to separate their own experience and memories from their daughters’ wishes and expectations.

During the workshop, the mothers will have a chance to reflect and reconnect to their own experience of menarche, and the daughters will be prompt to think about their wishes and desires for their menarche. It is going to be a very relaxed and safe environment, and there will be no pressure to share in the group, and anyone can say as much or as little as they will feel like.

Together we will talk about the menstrual cycle, its four phases, what happens in the body and mind during each one of them and how the cycle can be empowering and it can be seen and used as a sort of inner compass to live a more embodied life.

We will use art materials to make these ideas more fun and easier to understand, and what is produced can be brought home. We will think together about a plan and how to prepare your daughter for their menarche, in order for it to be an empowering experience.

During this session there will also be plenty of time for mothers and daughters to connect and share experiences.

I look forward to seeing you there! For any questions feel free to email me

Carlotta Bozzetti’s Offering at 10am - 12.30pm on Sunday 2nd March

A big, sunny and warm welcome to Lisa Irving, who joins the Moon Wise Women Practitioner Collective, with a wonderful introductory offer this coming weekend (17/18 May) - find out more in our bio.

Over to Lisa 👇

I'm a UKIHCA registered Health Coach, Functional Medicine and Energy Healing practitioner. I live and work in London but you can also find me in Cornwall foraging for wild herbs and learning about crystals.

My practice is centred around a holistic approach to health and I continuously weave in more healing modalities into my work. This brings me so much joy!

I am very fortunate to come from a family where women practiced herbalism and traditional medicine for many generations.  It gave me a chance to witness healing from a very young age and I've learned so much just by observing my grandmother tending to her medicinal garden and making remedies with the herbs she's grown. It was life full of connection to land, acceptance of slower pace of life and the cycles of nature.

But it hasn't always been this idyllic. In my 20s and 30s I immersed myself in a very busy urban environment and a fast paced career which kept my creative side happy but left me depleted physically and emotionally. This was also a time when I became a mother - a very powerful catalyst for change for many women!

After having a fair share of health struggles and not being able to find the support I needed, I knew it was time to take charge for my healing journey. I decided to leave my career in the arts and immersed myself in studies in Nutrition, Functional Medicine, Health Coaching, Energy Healing, Herbalism and this list keeps growing.

I would love to see you for my Energy Healing & Crystal therapy sessions at Moon and in my Health Coaching practice in Angel, Islington or online. You can find more information about Functional Medicine and Health Coaching on my website https://www.healthywithlisa.co.uk/1-1coaching

Monday sees the start of Mental Health Awareness Week.

At Moon we'll also be hosting our popular monthly Acupuncture Collective, where you can experience the benefits of acupuncture at a lower cost - but how can this ancient healing modality support your own mental health?

In acupuncture (and Chinese Medicine, where acupuncture originates) there is a special word for our overall emotional spirit. It’s called the ‘Shen,’ and when we’re feeling unsettled and anxious we refer to it as a ‘Scattered Shen’.

Through a delicate and detailed approach, acupuncture helps to benefit our mental health in the following ways:

⭕️ Recalibrating our nervous system
⭕️ Encouraging better quality sleep
⭕️ Promoting clarity of thought and focus
⭕️ Working on a deeper level to help our hormones work with us, not against us

The holistic approach we take at the Acupuncture Collective means your symptoms aren’t just treated at the surface level, we go deeper.

If you would like to experience how transformative acupuncture can be, book in with us and allow your Shen to settle into a state of Zen.

If financial resources are a little tight, you can also access sessions with a 40% Women Supporting Women subsidy - just drop us a quick line, no questions asked, and we'll sort that out for you.

50% of profits from this Monday's session will be donated to @mindcharity

The Acupuncture Collective is taking place between 2pm to 8pm on Monday 12th May.

Find more details and book via our bio.
