Mother Rage - How To Work With Your Anger as a Parent

In this 2.5 hour workshop with Conscious Parenting Coach and Somatic Therapist Emily Hughes we will lean into anger, rage and frustration in Motherhood.

There can be so much shame in talking about anger in parenting but a fresh way of looking at anger is as a messenger to let you know your values, boundaries and parts of you that need healing.

 

Are you ready to lean into anger? Are you yearning to have a different relationship with your anger? In this workshop we will reframe anger as a gift to help you learn more about yourself and learn practical tips to help you flow with your anger rather than being stuck in it. A mix of coaching, somatic exercises, mindful movement, nervous system awareness and breathwork.

This workshop is for you if:

  • You repress your anger and want to have a healthier relationship with it
  • You find yourself triggered all the time by your kids
  • You have an explosive temper that shocks/scares you
  • You are stuck in chronic frustration and irritability
  • You are craving a more centred and grounded approach to parenthood
  • Your children experience anger frequently too and you are looking for better ways to model healthy anger expression as a family

In the session we will cover:

  • Understanding your anger and looking beneath your triggers
  • Tuning into the body and what the body is holding onto in relation to anger, rage and frustration
  • Techniques for staying calm centred and grounded whatever parenting throws at you
  • How to express anger and aggression in healthy ways
  • Parenting in tune with your nervous system
  • How to make genuine repairs after ruptures in the relationship

Hi, I’m Hannah.

I’m a gardener, a creator of bobbly hedges (check out the house on the corner of Laurier and Dartmouth Park Avenue), a yoga practitioner and a yoga teacher.

I have lived and worked in the streets around Moon most of my life and feel committed to this community. 

I have brought up 4 children, supporting and attending the local schools and during the years of work and parenthood I have always had some form of mind/body practice, which has supported me through the various phases of my life. In the last 20+ years this has been yoga.

Now I am older, wiser, calmer and even more rooted here than ever I can really see the value of a habitual practice especially when shared with members of my community.

I am very pleased to be here at Moon on Monday mornings offering a Vinyasa flow style yoga class with an emphasis on sun salutations and breath led movement.

I have also recently started a session on Wednesdays at the newly opened Highgate Newtown Community Centre - @hncp_2025 

I hope to share some of the faith I have built in yoga practice in an effort to give back and invite more people to find a moment of peace, stability and introspection in their day which has got to be a good thing in our hectic world.

My classes are open to all abilities BUT I especially want to invite those who feel they are too old or too unfit or in some way unable to bend… yoga is an internal and individual practice and not all about creating great shapes

(I have recently qualified as a breath work teacher ((but more of that anon!))

A couple of helpers to mount the latest beautiful artwork that we're fortunate enough to host at Moon.

As the warm weather invites us to swim in the lakes, rivers and sea you might want to keep an eye out for mermaids. 

There are none on the Heath, although I might have felt something tickle my toes in the Ladies' Pond recently, but that didn’t stop me asking local artist Jen Cable to lend us this piece, inspired by the tale of the little mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. 

Unlike the tale of Ariel in the Disney film, the original story is a warning about the importance of keeping your voice and using it to create the kind of inclusive and supportive society in which we can all be valued.

It felt fitting that Moon should host the piece for the coming weeks.
