Hi, I’m Katie!

I support women and their families from pregnancy and birth through to the early years of parenting.

When I became a mother, I began developing a passion for all things pregnancy, birth and parenting. Whether it’s a friend, a client, or a stranger in a coffee shop, I can’t resist talking about motherhood and all that comes with it. That passion led me to create Being Mama — my way of bringing together the knowledge, tools and support I provide to new parents.

As a qualified Antenatal and Postnatal Educator, I provide group classes as well as one-to-one support. I believe in the importance of nurturing the mother as much as the child, and in providing a supportive, judgement-free space for women to discover and follow their own path in birth and motherhood. Whichever type of birth you choose, I will guide you in preparing for a positive and empowering birth experience.

Through a combination of evidence-based education, practical tools and emotional support, I aim to instil a sense of calm, confidence and clarity, helping to ease any fears or overwhelm along the way.

I’m also a registered facilitator of Circle of Security Parenting — a relationship-based approach that helps parents and caregivers form secure attachments with their children. I carry many of these principles into my antenatal and postnatal work, supporting connection between parents and their babies, within their relationships, and within themselves as they step into this new chapter of parenthood.

Happy Autumn Equinox 🍂 – with the night and day at equal length, before we set off back into the darkness, look inwards, and slow down (although that feels a lot easier said than done).

A time to contemplate and consider what we are thankful for in our lives. So gather a little closer, as a chill comes into the air, and warm yourself with a hearty meal, joined by family and friends over the next couple of weeks. Celebrate the harvest (what a bumper fruit year it’s been!)

Happy Autumn Equinox to you all (and Shana Tova, to those celebrating 🍎🍯).

The end of Summer and looking towards Winter, as the nights draw in.

The beautiful image is called Sunset in the Kitchen, and is from the skillful hand of @tijanadraws

A new moon, the Autumn Equinox, and a partial solar eclipse (if you're currently in the South Pacific...) - that's a lot going on celestially!

If you have a moment to turn your attention away from the skies, you should have received the Moon Women's Health newsletter this evening. If not, you can find it via the link in our bio.

You'll find news on our new sister company and info on new events, such as the Death Cafe.

Have a read and we'll see you soon.

Autumn is here, and breathe…

After the buzz of late summer, the world feels like it’s been spinning twice as fast - frantic with change and complication. We’re ready for everything just to chill now please.

In Chinese medicine, autumn marks a strong energetic shift: from ‘yang’, outward, masculine, active, into ‘yin’, more inward, feminine, reflective.

The organs in charge are the lungs and large intestine - the quality of newness we take in, and what we let go of that we no longer need - breathe and release. It’s almost like the body giving one big detoxifying sigh.

Acupuncture is beautiful at working with this transition. It doesn’t just calm stress; it stimulates our ‘rest and relax’ hormones, lowers cortisol, and boosts serotonin and oxytocin. People leave the clinic reporting they feel lighter, clearer, and often “floating on clouds.”

That’s what Dr Sunila and Sophie do at The Acupuncture Collective, weaving the big seasonal shifts with what’s going on inside you, personalising treatment every time.

This is your moment to reset, restore balance, and breathe more deeply into autumn.

We still have a few sought after appointments available this coming Monday (22nd), take a look at the link in our bio to find out more and book.
