Breathe, Talk, Move Menopause Workshop

This workshop will begin with a simple breathing exercise to ground us and move onto short introductions in the form of a women's circle. Everyone will be invited to introduce themselves by name and for those who would like to share their menopause journey so far.

Dr Claire Phipps (GP) will be giving an informed medical perspective of the menopause with an opportunity to ask questions, such as navigating the NHS and various HRT provisions. This will be followed by a short comfort break, then a supportive, inclusive movement class led by Caroline. This will combine yoga, somatics and breathing and will be suitable for all, ending in relaxation. The workshop will finish with a closing circle to summarise and say our goodbyes.

Dr Claire Phipps has been a GP for 10 years. Alongside her role as a GP in a north London practice, she also runs works out of Newson Health and The menopause clinic at the Whittington. She is a GP trainer, mentor and educator.

Caroline Phipps-Urch has been practising yoga for 25 years. Her teaching incorporates somatics and Feldenkreis alongside hatha, yin and restorative yoga. She is on the Board of Trustees for Yoga Scotland and is part of the Edinburgh Community Yoga teaching team delivering trauma informed classes. She teaches for 360 Mind Body Soul and Space To Be online. Over the last year she has been delivering classes specifically to support women in perimenopause and menopause.

Claire and Caroline's Offering on Saturday 29th January 3pm - 5.30pm

Today is [Mother] Earth Day - thinking about the entire Earth and what we can do to ensure survival on this planet can feel daunting - but here are some local initiatives that can support you to support the Earth.

🌍 @growing_green_london - set up by local Mamas - amongst other things their focus is rewilding our local schools, you can support them by donating or volunteering - they have a second-hand clothes sale fundraiser this Sunday and an Open Garden event on 9th June - join them.

🌍 @heath_hands - supporting our beautiful Hampstead Heath, sustaining its biodiversity and protecting it for wildlife and humans to enjoy.

🌍 @nadiaswastechallenge - a local Mama who gives us her own experiences of modifying domestic habits to help support the Earth - giving realistic tips - follow her page.

🌍 @fair_well_london - tackle the plastic pollution crisis by removing plastic packaging from the final stage of the food distribution chain and solving the main problem with plastic-free shopping: inconvenience. They come to you, you just need to book and buy.

🌍 @kentishtownlibraryofthings - borrow items, such as drills, carpet cleaners, projectors - you don't have to buy them - sharing the things you won't use often is a simple action all of us can take to live more sustainably - they're based at Kentish Town Library.

🌍 @kentishtownvegbox - all their produce is organic or naturally grown and sourced from small-scale farms as close to London as possible.

These are just a few of the local initiatives supporting our environment, support them and use them - helping the Earth starts at home.

[This post is a re-working of our 2023 Earth Day post, but it's all just as relevant]

A warm re-introduction to Jasmin (Jazz) McGonigle @camdenbabywearing who's recently set up the wonderful resource of a sling and baby carrier library in our corner of London.

Jazz is a mother to two beautiful girls, with one more on the way. Motherhood changed everything for her, as it does for many new mothers. Realising she couldn't return to her job, she found purpose in supporting other new parents on their journey. Discovering Baby-wearing was transformative, giving her the confidence to venture out with a less fussy baby. She knew she had found her calling.

Seeing children being worn brings her immense joy. Jazz personally favours woven wraps and has delved into the world of different fabrics and tying techniques.

Now a qualified baby-wearing consultant, Jazz runs her own Sling Library, empowering others to experience the benefits of baby-wearing from pregnancy to toddlerhood.

Volunteering with @wrapahug_sling_library in East London and attending their monthly Family meet-ups in Tower Hamlets brings her great fulfillment. However, as a local parent in North London, Jazz felt compelled to start something closer to home, leading to the creation of the Sling Library at Moon.

She now offers monthly sling library sessions and home visits to support parents during the postpartum period.

Jazz also participates in Moon's monthly 'New Parent Drop-in,' cherishing the supportive community it provides.

You can find out more about Jazz and the sling library via the link in our bio.

🌸Spring Theme🌸

Join @marysheppardyoga for Spring themed family yoga tomorrow at Moon.

We'll explore the change in season to Spring with animal and nature poses. When Spring is finally here, all we want to do is step outside and breathe in the fresh air of flowers blooming and fresh grass. We will practice mindfulness and yoga with Spring baby animals, Spring bugs, and weather changes.

Rainbow Kids & Family yoga classes are interactive, social, and all about connection. We will co-create the class together in a magical and playful way using lots of creativity sprinkled throughout the class.

We use games, partner and Acro yoga, stories, music, dancing, art, mindfulness and relaxation to bring yoga alive for children.

Find link to book in bio.
