Camden Babywearing Sling Library

The sling library is a space where you can get help with pretty much all things babywearing and feeding in the slings! Jasmin McGonigle will do the utmost best to support you.

Who is it for?

The sling library is for parents and carers of babies, toddlers and preschoolers. You can also come if you are still expecting your baby and try some slings on with a demo doll/learn to belly wrap your pregnant belly if you fancy trying this out.

The sling library is inclusive and non-judgemental; we welcome all families and we don’t care if you haven’t been able to wash your hair in days!

What happens during your appointment?

  • Jazz will show you how to use your sling or the library’s sling by demoing, guiding you or putting buckle carriers on you (to speed things up) and then showing you how to use the carrier you want to hire. Each person learns differently, so she will adapt to you.
  • You can either use your own baby (best to check the fit of buckle carriers) or a demo doll if you prefer or if that’s easier (or if it’s safer within the time frame, especially with back carries or babies who don’t fancy going in the sling on the day, it happens!).
  • You will go over safety aspects and receive a safety leaflet (it will also be emailed).
  • If you run out of time and you need a bit more help, another consultant/peer supporter might be able to offer you extra time if possible on the day (we can’t make guarantees).
  • So as to accommodate everybody on the day and reduce waiting times, you may be paired up with 1 or 2 other parents coming to learn the same skill.
  • You can hire a sling/s on the day.
  • You can hire any sling for as long as you want, see fees and hire length below.
  • Feel free to hang out if you need to feed/change your baby/chat with other parents. It is a breastfeeding friendly space.

What happens after the sling library?

  • After the sling library, Jazz will email you links to video tutorials and sling safety.
  • You can send her pictures on Whatsapp if you have any concerns or questions.
  • You will be reminded via email to return your sling 3 days before the due date and you can choose to return the sling either at the next sling library session or by post (postal instruction will be given), or to renew the sling hire.

How much is it?

  • £20 for a 20 mins session including a 2 weeks’ hire of a sling or 4 weeks for stretchy wraps and Close Caboo
  • £20 for a consultation to learn some new skills with your own sling
  • £8 for an additional sling hire for 2 weeks

Hire without a consultation and also hire extension fees are; £8 per week or £20 for 1 month or £15 per month with a minimum of 2 months hire - then £15 monthly rolling. Additional slings are charged at £8 per sling per hire period max 1 month. Stretchy wraps and Close Caboo are £8 per month flat rate

The charges cover the cost of the room hire, cost of slings, boring admin stuff like insurance and IT, washing of the slings and other expenses.

Would you like to donate?

Slings experience wear and tear, therefore we regularly update our stock. If you would like to donate to the Camden Sling Library to support renewing our slings then please follow this link - thank you so much, we couldn’t do this without your generosity.

Jazz looks forward to meeting you all and supporting you on your babywearing journey!

This month Sophie and Dr Sunila are focusing on how acupuncture can support us through the hormonal change of the perimenopause and menopause at:

⭕ The Acupuncture Collective
🗓️ 2pm to 8pm - Monday 19th January
📍Moon Women’s Health, 63 Chetwynd Road, NW5 1BX

Book via our bio.

This is Part 1 of a series focused on hormones - in March’s clinic they'll be looking at hormonal irregularity in our menstruating years.

Perimenopause and menopause can be a surprise to many of us. Largely hushed up by our mums, this hormonal shift can creep up without warning.

The good news is, that for most of us, once ideas of self-care, nutrition, exercise and HRT options have been given some attention, there’s a very good chance we'll feel better than ever.

And guess what?

Yes, you’re right, acupuncture is one of the best forms of self-care for women, especially during hormonal turbulence.

And what better time to have a health reboot! January of course.

In Chinese philosophy, Winter is the most Yin time of the year. Yin is characterised as the passive female principle of the universe, sustaining and associated with earth, dark, and cold. Nature’s energy is low, and so is ours, so TLC is at the top of the agenda.

The perimenopausal time of life is when your boat can be severely rocked and it can arrive out of the blue. The symptoms can be slight or debilitating, it's different from person to person. This is because our hormonal balances are unique.

Acupuncture can help get to the root cause of symptoms we may experience:
⭕ Hot flushes
⭕ Night sweats
⭕ Vaginal dryness and discomfort during sex
⭕ Difficulty sleeping
⭕ Low mood or anxiety
⭕ Reduced libido
⭕ Problems with memory and concentration
⭕ Backache
⭕ Stiff joints
⭕ Irregular periods

Primarily we look at how we can nourish your Kidney energy. In Chinese Medicine, Kidneys are associated with our life battery, bones and attitudes to risk and fear and levels of anxiety. By balancing this meridian, we can help calm anxiety, night sweats, and hot flushes, helping bring more restful sleep. There's a good chance your sex drive will get a boost at the same time too!

Local artist Jen Cable is generously loaning us her artworks for another year (delighted), as well as gifting us a pair of tickets for the Stitch Festival (read below for how to win).

For these early weeks of the year, as the trees lay bare, we’ve chosen to borrow 'Arboretum'. This beautiful piece showcases the branch patterns and strong silhouettes that our local woodlands offer at this time of year, as the trees conserve energy, and wait - an essential pregnant pause before they break forth into Spring.

Like the trees, this is not a time for us to be hitting the high notes of productivity! We should be ‘wintering’. Taking time to sleep a little more, eat nourishing food, and spend quiet time. This essential rest can support our mood, hormones and overall wellbeing, helping to reduce burnout and long-term stress.

Although, even in our Winter state, like the trees, we can be looking towards the Spring. So we’ve very pleased to be able to offer you the chance to win tickets for the Stitch Festival (Business Design Centre, N1, 19th - 22nd March).

Jen has been selected to show her stitched tree bark at this year’s event, alongside other fabulous works from the UK, New Zealand, and Chile.

It’s an amazing day out there are hundreds of workshops, demonstrations, catwalks, talks, plus all kinds of exhibitors selling specialist craft supplies.  So if you’re into stitch or crafting, you will be in for a treat.  To win them all you need to do is tag a potentially interested friend into this post*.

Jen has also secured us a ticket discount code giving £2 off the regular ticket price, valid any day except the Saturday.  Just type in JENCABLE26 at checkout.  The code is valid till 8th March.

Enjoy this period of wintering and see you at Moon soon.

Join us for this coming weekend at Moon Women’s Health (63 Chetwynd Road, NW5 1BX) to call in 2026.

On Saturday afternoon, Rina Hattori teaches natural, gentle ways to reduce PMS, menopause symptoms and emotional overwhelm. The session explores abdominal/womb massage (fully clothed), deep breathing exercises, and practical guidance on supporting hormones through nutrition and lifestyle choices.

On Sunday afternoon, Assiya Shalabayeva creates an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance, for us to speak from the heart — or to simply listen — as we explore what’s real for us in this moment of our lives. You may come seeking clarity, or connection, or to simply to sit among women and feel the strength of shared truth.

On Sunday evening, Desiree Diaz holds sacred space at the New Moon Women’s Healing & Meditation Circle. You will experience feeling heard and seen as you set your intentions for the month - focusing on manifesting the life that you want and connecting with other women to help your manifestation become even stronger

You can find more details and book via the link in our bio.

Thank you to these wonderful folk who donated to the Women Supporting Women Fund in December - your support means even more folk can access the support they're looking for.

Although, unfortunately, due to a waiting list, this support may be a little far off for many women in our community.

Therefore, if you're able to, when you make a booking with Moon, tick the box that'll add £3 (cheaper than most cafe coffees ☕) to your booking - it's as easy as that.

You can also make a standalone donation, follow the link in our bio.

Thank you x
