Yin Yoga

All levels, beginners to advanced practitioners. Modifications and options will be given to suit the students practice.

While Vinyasa yoga is Yang and focuses on your muscles and blood, Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. Yin yoga is mostly floor based, slow and meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body.

Because you’re holding poses for a longer period of time, yin yoga helps you stretch and lengthen deep connective tissues as you create gentle traction as you hold. This slow practice is also teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts-in turn teaching you how to be still and meditate.

The practice of yin yoga is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles which believe there are pathways of Qi (energy) that run through our bodies in channels called meridians. By stretching and deepening into postures, you’re opening up any blockages in these meridian channels and corresponding chakra and element and releasing that energy to flow freely. Your energetic body will be more balanced as the chi can flow freely, and your physical body will be more at ease-less tension and more flexibility in muscles and joints.

Yin yoga focuses on 3 themes of Stillness, Surrender, and Softness in the practice. You will learn to find stillness in Yin yoga poses, to surrender into the poses-not pushing into the body, and finally to find softness in the body and the breath so we may really relax the body and mind.

I look forward to sharing this rewarding practice with you!

At this Monday's Acupuncture Collective you can experience the benefits of acupuncture at a lower cost - but how can this ancient healing modality support your mental health?

In acupuncture (and Chinese Medicine, where acupuncture originates) there's a special word for our overall emotional spirit - the ‘Shen'. When we’re feeling unsettled and anxious we refer to it as a ‘Scattered Shen’.

Through a delicate and detailed approach, acupuncture helps to benefit our mental health in the following ways:

Recalibrating our nervous system
Encouraging better quality sleep
Promoting clarity of thought and focus
Working on a deeper level to help our hormones work with us, not against us
The holistic approach we take at the Acupuncture Collective means your symptoms aren’t just treated at the surface level, we go deeper.

If you would like to experience how transformative acupuncture can be, book in with us and allow your Shen to settle into a state of Zen.

Our next Acupuncture Collective is taking place between 2pm to 8pm on Monday 20th April - find more details and book via our bio.
