The Midlife Series: Busting Menopause Myths

Did you know there are over 30 signs of menopause? Did you also know that peri-menopause begins for most in our early forties and can last for anything up to 10 years!

You’ve probably heard jokes about hot flushes but may not know that brain fog, anxiety, headaches, joint pains, heart palpitations and itchy skin are also common signs of menopause.

Come join Ali Masterman, local Menopause Yoga certified teacher and Dr Sue Dickie, local GP who has a special interest in women's health and currently volunteers at the specialist menopause clinic at The Whittington Hospital.

Between us we want to bust some myths and help people get the best experience of this time of life. It doesn’t have to be doom and gloom it can be an exciting and invigorating time. Make your Second Spring your best time of life.

The workshop will be a small intimate group to enable us to share our stories comfortably within a safe space (only if you want to no-one will be forced to share), Q&A with both Sue and Ali then some gentle and relaxing yoga and meditative breathwork.

Our intention is to educate, embrace and empower you. You will leave with information sheets that will help with this transition. Plus a wonderful goodie bag curated from small like minded businesses.

Alison and Sue's Offering on - next dates to be announced.

Very excited by the latest artwork to grace the walls of Moon.

Inspired by the 100th anniversary of the Ladies' Pond, and crafted by local artist Jen Cable. The ponds hold a special place in many of our hearts, each of us with our own stories entwined into its waters.

There's even a specific term for the calming, meditative, and peaceful state that being in or near natural water creates.

Blue Mind.

Jen was first introduced to its charms by her grandma, some 50 years ago, and once you've had the experience, it never leaves you.

In Jen's words...

Jen was first introduced to its charms by her grandma, some 50 years ago, and once you've had the experience, it never leaves you. In Jen's words... "In winter I ease slowly down the ladder to meet the dark, icy chill that wakes up every nerve in my body.  A brief minute, or at most two, then it's out, past the icicles and off to a cafe to warm up whilst my skin tingles with joy.  In summer, moorhens, mandarin ducks and mallards swim by with their chicks from nests built on the life buoys and I bask in the cool sparkle of the water, staring up at the blue sky." What about you?  Where are you cooling off?  We'd love to hear your stories of the pond in its centenary year.  Or, if you've never been, then maybe this is the year to try; it's a magical place.3 days ago
